From Lulu’s Point of View

Acts was doing the U-Turn, a month of prayer and fasting. And although I was still attending FGA, I decided that I would join them too. Alex suggested that we break fast together, on Easter Sunday, and I agreed! (thinking back, now I notice how Alex was really keen and getting way excited about the ‘breaking fast’ together, and actually gave quite a few sms-reminders!)

On Easter Sunday, he picked me up for dinner, and started driving to Tamarind Springs. Noticing that he seem to know the way fairly well, I asked if he has been there, to which he replied “I haven’t eaten there before”. Well, I should’ve taken more notice to his choice of words!

We ordered, and food was really slow in coming. While waiting, Alex, wanting to write me a poem, requested for a serviette. I got a bit interested at this point. (I tried hard glancing at the last sentence though!) False alarm. It was just a super sweet poem about me lah! At this point, I heard a thud. And I thought it was his cell phone that fell. (Till today he still laughs about it, as he claims the phone was just right beside him on the table when I asked that).

The food still really hasn’t arrived at this point, and Alex excused himself to check on it. Coming back about 15 minutes later, he surprised me by appearing in a different outfit! (At this point I was really, really surprised) Wearing a t-shirt with a picto-story on it, he handed me my version of the t-shirt… that completes the ‘story’! Read me a (nother) poem! And proposed with the ring! I was totally shocked!!! Not only have we started going out for only 5 months, he had gone all out to plan the entire proposal, down pat to having Evan film the entire evening for our keepsake.

I said YES. And the ring is a perfect fit!

From Eng Wai’s Point of View

In Alex’s typical Point Form Delivery Style!(in 30 points) :

  1. Brought it up to Ps Kenneth & discussed about it
  2. Went shopping for the ring with Ps Andy
  3. Selected April 8th as the right date (at the end of ACTS’ U Turn 40 day prayer and fast)
  4. Went scouting for the right dinner place
  5. Briefed Evan Yan on some help needed
  6. Got WL to go out without getting her suspicious
  7. Smsed the dad right before the proposal (on the way to the venue!)
  8. Reached beautiful Tamarind Springs Restaurant
  9. Food took a long time to come (Plan was to eat first, then propose)
  10. Wedding ring case hidden in a box stuck underneath the table (as planned) – dropped on the floor during our conversation!
  11. Managed to divert attention from the dropped box back to our dinner conversation! :-P
  12. Pulled out first poem and wrote it down on a napkin for WL
  13. Decided that I was going to propose before dinner since the food took too long to arrive!
  14. Went to toilet to change into a specially printed T-shirt that would set the stage for the proposal
  15. Came back out with a specially printed T-Shirt that says….
  16. WL was stunned for awhile to see me changed
  17. I pulled out another poem and then the ring. The 2nd poem ended with the line “Lulu Dearest, will you marry me?”
  18. She said yes!
  19. Evan Yan came over with a bouquet of flowers having filmed parts of the evening dinner and the proposal process
  20. WL thought that he was a waiter from Tamarind Springs!
  21. I gave a mini speech for the camera. WL remained silent (still stunned), while showing the “Victory” sign.
  22. A few moments later, I received an sms from WL’s dad (a reply following my sms to him before arriving at the dining place).
  23. I asked WL to give her dad a call
  24. I spoke to the dad for a short while.
  25. WL’s dad spoke with a less than exciting voice…he sounded a little surprised… at the speed of things!
  26. I felt it best to meet the parents asap!
  27. I met with WL and the parents the following day, for dinner.
  28. It went so well! :)
  29. The girl had said yes. The parents had said yes too!
  30. God is GOOD!
